Dear applicants,

The horticultural school in Litomysl is located in one of the most beautiful towns of the Czech Republic, in the students’ centre (there are five more secondary schools and four boarding  houses near our school) near the historical centre of the town.

In the very neighbourhood of the school there is a large natural zone with about 3,500-4,000
taxon  of plants which has been extended thanks to our school activities. In this park surrounding there is also a new training experience centre and a new boarding house (finished in 2003). These outplantings together with the Castle of Litomysl outplantings make splendid conditions for the active life of our students as well as meaningful studies at our school. It also supports the system of sequencing the special subjects in the structure of the studies – for example Floristics, Landscaping,  Landscape Drawing, Arranging, Drawing and Modelling, Biology and Ecology, Law, … On the other hand the technical subjects are a bit limited  (e. g. Physics, Machines and Equipment). Our school also puts accent on languages (English, German). Of course, there are special classes equipped with computers for Computer Technologies and special drawing programmes for Landscaping.

Training experience

Training experience is a very important part of studies at our school. It takes place not only within our school area (mostly basic – instructional training) but also in many companies in the Czech Republic (botanic gardens, cultivating centres, state castles and private companies).
A very important part of our education is also preparing and implementation of different grants (both national and international).

Foreign cooperation

The Secondary School of Horticulture has been focusing on grant programmes (especially in cooperation with the European Union). This year we have been preparing two international cooperation programmes together with our international partners.

Our plans

Our school is going to intensify environmental education as well as landscaping in our centre in Litomysl.

Next year we would like to prepare similar project which would take place abroad.

We are going to continue in our outplanting programme in so called Green Study.
